Mablung

One of the Rangers of Ithilien under Faramir. He and Damrod were set to guard Frodo and Samwise in Ithilien while the rest of the Rangers went to fight the Southrons marching to Mordor. The two also blindfolded the Hobbits when they were taken to Henneth Annûn. He led the scouts for the Captains of the West, and spotted an ambush near the spot where Faramir had ambushed the Southrons earlier. Due to his scouts, the ambush was easily defeated.

He kept three dogs, Grip, Fang and Wolf, who protected his land. Earlier in the day that the Hobbits visited him, he was approached by a Black Rider looking for Baggins, and so he quickly invited the Hobbits in his house. After supper, he took Frodo, Peregrin and Samwise to the Buckleberry Ferry in his wagon, where they met Meriadoc who had come looking for them.
